SQL Server Day 26 Oct 2013 – Delhi-lites prove it again with full house

26th October 2013, 3 Cities – Delhi,Hyderabad and Bangalore, 6+ speakers, 500 + SqlServerGeeks turned up to make
history.
Yes, first time ever in India’s SQL Server Community history, the largest and the fastest growing SQL Server Community “SQLServerGeeks.com” organized SQL Server Day in 3 cities on same day.  Nothing can be better than this if you belong to SQL Server fan club.

To give you the background, the community SQLServerGeeks was started by Amit Bansal and Sarabpreet Singh in 2010. The growth has been commendable. In 3 years, it’s the largest SQL server
community in India and still growing. In the year 2013 we did 12+ in person event and we ended it with a mega SQL Server Day on Oct 26 in 3 cities. We have 45000+ registered members and our Facebook group which just started in 2013 is now 6000 members strong.

Coming back to the event; Geeks lining up for registration, Sarab supervising the geeks and getting ready with his session (pic below) and me… Well I joined late.

Though, I have loved speaking and interacting with Geeks in all SQL Server Days I have been too but this one was different. Not only because it was being conducted in 3 cities in parallel but also because this one was the most interacting one as compared to others. People showed more interest and enthusiasm in learning and asking questions and I also registered few future bloggers of SQLServerGeeks.com. This was really very encouraging for us and I see this as a reward of sticking to our schedule and organizing SQL Server Day every month. This gave people an opportunity to let go there shyness and meet and share their work experiences with others and most of all learn more about SQL Server.

The event progressed as I started my session “Optimization from the Field” where in I talked about implicit conversions, multi parameter search, scalar functions and concatenating column
values.

After a break full of interactions, discussions and snacks, Sarab talked about Execution plans. These were the most interacting sessions that we ever conducted. There were questions and
discussions and this time it wasn’t only the speakers answering the questions, there were some good answers from attendees as well.

You can download the sessions here

Not only this, we also inspired few people to join SQLServerGeeks.com as bloggers and they all will be blogging soon.

After a real good SQL Server Day, I slept feeling proud that we aren’t only sharing and spreading SQL Server knowledge but also grooming people to be a better SQL Server
professional. After all, this is what Community and User Groups are all about!!!

  1. I attended this very conference and I must say this was the turning point in my career. The extensive enlightenment with which you are enriched here is greater than any book. Best part is you get to know the “best-in-premium” SQL geeks and the urge to come up to their level is beyond alphabets.
Another point which I’d like to put some light is “THE ENERGY and ENTHUSIASM” you see in #SQLGeeks sessions is what raises “a techie to a geek”.

I personally would advise anywho who has ever wrote a query or seen SQL server Management studio window should attend these sessions.

And thank you #SQLGeeks Champions for this wonderful event and more to come.

Your one of these best fan,
    Aqil Ahmed.
