Completed-Advance T-SQL workshop – Gurgaon, September 2011

Hi Friends,

Today, while I write this blog, I am preparing for my travel to Bangalore next week for a very tough assignment with one of my clients in engineering & IT space.

Here is something about my AdvancedT-SQL workshop that I delivered for a leading insurance company in USA. As usual, there is so much that I learnt in this assignment. I met new minds, new personalities, got to know their SQL stories, their issues, remedies, tips, tricks, techniques and bunch of little things! Every assignment makes me a better SQL guy and a better person too 🙂

This SQL Server training assignment in India was organized by Peopleware India –

Previous to this T-SQL assignment, I had delivered 2 batches for MS IDC in the same week. I blogged about that here:

This was a 3 day workshop on Advanced T-SQLand I covered everything starting from query processing architecture, Join algorithms,

Sub-queries, Ranking functions, aggregates, indexes, data modification internals, etc. Yes, indexes is always a favorite topic of mine. I love talking about the order of columns in your indexes, the INCLUDE option and how can it better over composite indexes, filtered indexes, etc. We also spent considerable amount of time on query tuning; tips and tricks etc. I included a few learnings that I got from Itzik’s session at TechED North America.

The audiencewas so focused, and I was bombarded with questions – and I think I answered them all 😉

I loved interacting with the folks; they made an excellent class.

Here is the Pic from the class:

SQL Server is AB's first love, and his wife does not mind that. He tries to share as much and spreads the SQL goodness. Internals and Performance Tuning excites him, and also gives him sleepless nights at times, simply because he is not a genius, but quite a hard worker and does not give up. It has been a long and exciting journey since 1997, you can read here: http://sqlmaestros.com/amit-bansal/ He is on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/A_Bansal
