This session will introduce you to a new data warehouse SQL query acceleration feature in Microsoft SQL Server 2012, called Columnstore Index. This new type of index architecture along with batch execution mode, improves data warehouse query performance by hundreds to thousands of times in some cases, and can normally give a tenfold speedup for a broad range of DW queries. Join this session (Part 1) to get introduce to this block-buster feature of SQL Server 2012. This is a 2 part series and part 2 will focus on advanced concepts related to columnstore indexes.
